Video Game Creation July 12 - 16. Learn to create animation and video games. Students will used dedicated computer workstation and software to create new and interesting games. They can build applications with drag & drop ease, test, and save as stand-alone exe files. If your child is a "gamer" this camp will help him or her understand how games are created and provide the background for entry level in game programming. For ages 11 - 14. $270 for one week.
Robotics June 28 - July 2. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of microcontroller operations, leading to applications in robotics. They will be taught how to program autonomous devices for locomotion and sensing. They will then use these techniques to program and operate versatile robots. Challenging and interesting! For ages 12 - 14. $270 for one week.
High School Physics August 16 - 20. Prepare for higher performance in your upcoming high school physics class or review for the SAT II. This one-week course focuses on fundamental problem-solving approaches to mechanics, energy, waves, optics, electronics and magnetism. $270 for one week.
Electronics for Middle School July 26 - 30. The fascinating world of electronics will be introduced through "hands-on" experiments using electronic breadboards and soldered circuits. Students will learn fundamental principles of electronics and build and test circuits at their own workbench. Topics: resistance, capacitance, voltage, current, inductance, electrolytic cells, ohms law, switches, soldering, multi-meter and transistors. Ages 11 -13.

English Skills Camps at SciCore
Early Reading
You won't believe that your child can learn to read in three short weeks. When taught the basics of phonics, your child can readily decode words and has the foundation for untroubled reading and comprehension. Our proven techniques and caring approach were a genuine hit in 2009. Give your child an outstanding gift this summer - the ability to read. Designed for children ages 4-5. July 26-August 13. Cost: $ 750 for three weeks.
Elementary English
Your child will learn to write interesting sentences, coherent paragraphs, and well-organized essays. When given the right tools and attention, children gain tremendous confidence as they become good writers. This program is designed for students entering grades 3 or 4. The class is limited to 12 students, so sign up early! July 5 - 9. $270 for one week.
Writing Essentials for Middle School
Excellence in writing leads to better grades, higher scores on standardized tests, and improved student confidence. Yet there is no doubt that many middle school students are uncomfortable with the writing process and resist efforts to make them fluent in the written word. To help your student, SciCore has designed a one-week intensive camp in the art of writing. The course is tailored for students entering grades 6-8, and includes all the fundamentals needed to support and refine student's writing abilities. Within a challenging yet fun environment, students will be taught essentials of grammar, diagramming, construction of simple and complex sentences, paragraphing, problems in word usage, outlining, draft revision, essay format, and tips on creative writing. Course runs Monday-Friday, 9am - 3pm, July 19-23. Cost: $270.
Writing for the SAT and ACT and Beyong
The high school years are filled with continuous writing, in courses such as English, history, and science. Lack of fluency in the written word leads to frustration, late homework assignments, and lowered grades. On the other hand, excellence in writing leads to high SAT scores, improved student confidence, and elevated grades in many subjects. This 1-week intensive writing course is designed for students entering grades 9-12. Morning sessions include review of grammar and basic writing skills while afternoons focus on essays of the type seen on the SAT and ACT. The small class size (limited to 12 students) enables the instructor to provide much individual attention. Course runs Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm, August 2 - 6. Cost: $270 for one week.

Summer Math Camps 2010
SciCore Academy is offering three math camps during the summer of 2009, at elementary, middle school and high school levels. They are dsigned to improve your student's math skills through practical exercises, fun activities, and much individual attention. Hours: 9am - 3 pm, Monday-Friday. Fee: $270 per week.
Middle School Math. Excellence in mathematics leads to better grades, higher scores on standardized tests, improved student performance, and eventual success in science and business. To help your student, SciCore has designed a one-week intensive camp in middle school mathematics. The course is tailored for students entering grades 6-8, and teaches those fundamentals needed to gain a better "number sense" and to be able to tackle word problems and applications. Within a challenging yet fun environment, students will be taught or given a review of topics such as: order of operations, prime factorization, fractions-decimals-percents, ratios, unit multipliers, roots, mental math, estimation, scientific notation, introductory geometry and much more! Monday-Friday, 9 am- 3 pm, June 28 - July 2. Cost: $270.
Algebra 2 with Applications. This course focuses on fundamentals and applications of Algebra 2. The course contains important concepts encountered in physics, chemistry, higher math, and the new SAT and ACT tests. The emphasis is on in-depth understanding of a limited number of key concepts as well as "hands-on" applications and projects. Topics to be introduced include systems of equations, polynomials, circular functions and trigonometric identities, graphing functions and solving equations graphically, radians vs. degrees, polar coordinates, solving trigonometric equations, logarithms, and matrices. Application areas include mechanics, motion, optics, navigation, and chemistry. The morning is filled with illustrations and problem-solving. The afternoon is devoted to practical applications and experimentation. Monday-Friday, 9 am - 3 pm, July 19-23. Cost: $270.
Elementary Mathematics. Early learners need a firm foundation in arithmetic for success in higher math and science. Your second or third grader can do far more than you think if he or she first masters the math fundamentals. Topics include carry-over, borrowing, fast multiplication, factors, long division, mental math, fractions and much more. Fun activities such as math rallies and geometric cut-outs will keep your child interested and motivated. See how far your child can go! Designed for ages 7-8. Monday-Friday, 9am - 3 pm, July 12 - 16. $270 for one week.
