SciCore Senior Larry Berrill Attains Eagle Scout

We are proud to announce that SciCore Academy senior Larry Berrill has earned the highest advancement rank the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the rank of Eagle Scout.

The requirements for attaining Eagle Scout include earning at least 21 merit badges and demonstrating Scout Spirit through the Boy Scout Oath and Law, service, and leadership. It also requires completion of an extensive service project that the Scout must plan, organize, lead, and manage. Larry’s Eagle Scout project was to improve the landscaping in front of the Chapel House at Windsor Chapel, and to replace all of the broken bricks on a staircase leading up to the porch there. This project entailed digging out all of the ivy and roots, putting down a weed barrier with mulch, and then planting new bushes to finish the restoration, as well as the necessary masonry work to repair the steps.

A member of our local Boy Scout Troop 66, Larry is one of approximately only 4 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank. He is now an assistant scout master of the troop.

Please join us in extending our congratulations to Larry on this fantastic achievement.
